The MS Ultimate Story competition is a chance for kids to write the final chapter of a story that’s been written by three authors andย last year’s winning student.ย There are tons of prizes up for grabs. Julia Lawrinson wrote the 1st chapter and if you pick up a copy of the Sunday Age on May 9th, you’ll be able to read my 2nd chapter.
I’ll also be a guest on the Ultimate Story Blog this week, so here’s your chance to pick my brains out about my chapter and other writing things.

    Dear Oliver,
I was impressed how you introduced humour into the story. Do you think Baggy Bones had some unfinished business that he want s Josh to complete?

  • Thomas McPhan Posted May 19, 2010 1:38 am

    Hey Oliver!,

Your chapter was very imaginative and descriptive! I really enjoyed reading it! What do you think Baggy Bones wanted Josh to do? Why do you think it was Josh that Baggy Bones chose? You’re a Chaos Emerald! You know what that means.:)I wish you would write all the chapters i enjoyed yours so much!

Yo Thomas, thanks for visiting my site, I’m sure the other authors are trying to figure what Josh and Baggy Bones have to do together…I can’t tell you my idea because it’s a secret haha, well not really but I just want to see what happens first before I tell people about what I would have done ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Oliver,

The chapter you wrote was easily imagined. You described it well.
I’m just wondering how you come up with your ideas. I always get really stuck.

    Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Bethany
I always write notes about what I see, things that happen around me…or if I get really stuck, I read a really good book and maybe the idea will come hunting down my door…remember anything and anyone can be a story, ask yourself what if?
    Good Luck!

Hi Lauren, Baggy Bones just sounds cool to say, and it has a nice ring to it, could be a name for a pirate ghost or a bad criminal…it just hit me and got stuck in my head ๐Ÿ˜›

    Hey, it’s me again.

I was wondering of how you went from school to teaching or being an author and a comedian. What did you do after school? did you go to uni? I just need basic information about how you into being an author and stuff like that. Any awards won and like what made you make the book Thai-riffic!. I just need it for a biography that im doing it on.

    Much appreciated,

    Ishan

Hey Ishan, yeah I was a class clown, always getting in trouble for making kids laugh and being loud. So I knew I wanted to be a comedian in high school when I did funny speeches at English. After high school, I went to uni and did a writing degree and then a teaching degree as a back up. But I ended up loving teaching and did that for a year. Then I decided to quit full time teaching and started writing Thai-riffic! and Con-nerd, trying to find a publisher and agent. I met my agent at a writers festival and he took me over to Penguin…so yeah I’ve always loved writing but it took me some hard work to get there.
I haven’t won any awards yet but if you vote for me in the REAL awards, Thai-riffic! may win ๐Ÿ™‚
Thai-riffic!’s made because I had a funny childhood and thought other kids would be embarrassed by their parents too like me, so I started writing it and couldn’t stop
    Hope that helps man!
